About Me
I love glitter, shells and tiny toys. With the love of these I began to create the shrines that I love to make today. Years ago I started making small shrines with these little things I had collected over the years. Now through trial and error I make the shrines on a larger more fantastical scale. I had to find a use for my growing mass of little things and to put them with glitter and sequins was so natural! Now my shrines and paintings are all made with sculpy, foam forms, shells, glitter and sequins. I finish it off with my super secret final touch, this ensures maximum beauty and strength to keep them all together in one piece, frame and all.
I grew up traveling through some of Asia and Africa as a little girl. It was through these travels that my dad {Leo} passed along to me his love of the ocean. This is the greatest gift I believe that he gave me. The ocean is so vast, mysterious, and the colors and creatures are out of this world. All giving me ample inspiration. We snorkeled off many seas, and a few years before Dad passed away he got certified to scuba dive at the age of 60! Although I don't scuba I have snorkeled throughout the Caribbean and Hawaii. Along with his love of the ocean, my father instilled in me his love of art, animals, flora and fauna, and travel. All of which I still love to this day, and continually get my inspiration from. Of course art being the reason you are here right now. I will always be grateful for his passion that he shared and now I hope to inspire others to just create what you love. I will continue to make art and to evolve and learn with each new piece I make. I hope you enjoy traveling through the worlds I have created and please come back often and take a trip somewhere new! As Leo would say..."take care of eachother !" Much love, Lael xoxo
